(IN) BETWEEN US

(In) Between Us

Choreographed by Laura Vanhulle in collaboration with the dancers, Commissioned by PerformAct.

(In) Between Us explores how bodies shape space—and how space, in turn, shapes us. A group of dancers emerges as a living organism of memory, desire, and rupture. Through shifting architectures, dynamic movement, and layered emotional states that naturally surface within the choreography, the dancers form and dissolve connections—breaking apart, rising again, and revealing the human heartbeat pulsing between them.

The work becomes a storm of bodies, breath, and charged stillness, capturing the wild beauty of becoming. Laura often draws on spontaneous images that arise intuitively, allowing them to inform and express the evolving nature of the work.

Laura works with architectural tools, spatial composition, musicality, and physical layering to build the world of the piece. Guided by intuition and instinct, she allows emotional textures to emerge organically from spacing and movement. The work was created in close collaboration with 13 dancers:
